UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Penn State women's tennis player Leyla Morzan (Vancouver, British Columbia) has been selected to represent the Nittany Lions at the NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Leadership Conference. Morzan will join approximately 200 other student-athletes from across the country for the two-day conference in Orlando, Fla., May 25-27.
"Leyla is a fantastic choice for the NCAA Leadership Conference," head coach Dawna Prevette said. "I am excited that she has this rare opportunity to represent Penn State and our women's tennis program."
Every Life Skills program in the country is invited to nominate a student-athlete to attend the annual NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Leadership Conference in May. The annual NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference provides NCAA student-athletes with a forum to openly discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills. The NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities.
Morzan is coming off of her junior season in which she posted a 5-3 dual match record with a 3-3 mark in Big Ten play. The senior battled injury in the fall season, playing in just eight matches. She also earned a trio of doubles wins on the season. She won the Iron Lion award at the team's banquet.
