Penn State Women's Golf Team Finishes Second Day of Lady Puerto Rico Classic

After the second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R., hosted by Purdue, the women's golf team still sits in 16th place. Their score of 320 on the second day gives them a 639 after the first two rounds, nine strokes behind the 15th place Southern Methodist University. The University of Alabama now leads the field with a combined score of 582.

Freshman Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) and junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) continue to lead the Nittany Lions. Ransone put together scores of 77-79 (156), matching Fanelli's score after the second day, 76-80 (156). Ransone and Fanelli are currently in a tie for 47th place.

Junior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) had a second round score of 80, leaving her with a 162. Freshman Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) has a two-round score of 165, while senior Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.) rounds out the Nittany Lions with a 184.

Heading into the final day of the tournament, Baylor's Hannah Burke leads the field with her six-under par 138 through two rounds. The final round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic will take place tomorrow, February 9.
