UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State women's gymnastics senior Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) was named the Big Ten's Gymnast of the Week, conference officials announced. She is joined by Michigan's Natalie Beilstein who was the league's Freshman of the Week.
The honor is the 12th of Personett's career. She was also honored on Jan. 11 and Jan. 25 of this year. On Saturday, Feb. 6, Personett led the Nittany Lions to a 196.425-196.275 victory against No. 23 Illinois. She tied her career-high score in the all-around with a 39.600 to take top honors. Personett finished first on beam with a career-high score of 9.950 and in floor with a season-high 9.925. She has won floor in all five meets this season. Personett finished second on vault with a 9.850 and placed third on bars with a 9.875.
The Nittany Lions are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Pittsburgh. Meet action is set for 7 p.m. in Pittsburgh's Fitzgerald Fieldhouse. Penn State returns home on Saturday, Jan. 20 when it takes on West Virginia in a double-dual with the Penn State men's gymnastics team.
