The Penn State field hockey team continues its home-game run hosting conference foe Iowa and first-time visitors Monmouth in a weekend of recognition. The Nittany Lions will take on the Hawkeyes Sat., Oct. 2 at 12 p.m. and the Hawks on Sun., Oct. 3 at 12 p.m., in the 2010 Senior Day game.
The No. 15 Nittany Lions head into the weekend after a tough 2-0 loss against Michigan Sun., Sept. 26, which followed a five-game win streak. Iowa ships into Happy Valley as a tough competitor, being one of only five teams, out of 67 total, all-time that Penn State does not own a winning record against. The Lions are 17-32-1 against the Hawkeyes.
Sunday marks the 2010 Senior Day where Daneen Zug, Ali Meves, and Jenny Purvis will be recognized for their dedication, leadership, and contributions to the Penn State field hockey program. Monmouth makes its first appearance at the Field Hockey Complex, marking the first meeting between the two clubs.

FOOTBALL/FIELD HOCKEY IOWA SHOWDOWN
• While the football team travels to Iowa City to take on the Hawkeyes, the No. 15 Penn State field hockey team will host the ladies of Iowa in a conference showdown today at the Field Hockey Complex.
SPREAD OFFENSE
• 11 different Nittany Lions have taken shots-on-goal in the first part of the 2010 season. • Penn State has tallied 19 goals from seven different sticks, including senior-back Daneen Zug.
IOWA-PENN STATE SERIES IN REVIEW
• Iowa is one of only five teams, out of 67, all-time that Penn State does not own a winning record against. The Lions are 17-23-1 against the Hawkeyes. Other teams include American, North Carolina, Old Dominion and Wake Forest. • There is a marked difference when comparing road to home games in the all-time series. Penn State is 10-5 against Iowa at home and 3-11 on the road. The Lions are also 4-7-1 all-time in neutral site games. • The Lions were defeated the last time they traveled to Iowa City (Oct. 18, 2009), dropping a hard-fought 1-0 decision.
SCOUTING THE BLACK & GOLD
• Sophomore Jessica Barnett leads the Hawkeyes in a number of statistical categories. She leads the team with 37 shots and also leads the team with ten points and five goals • Iowa returns to happy Valley off of a 1-0 win against Central Michigan last weekend. • Iowa's defense has proven tough, showcased in the Sept 24 clash against No. 6 Michigan State when sophomore goalkeeper, Kathleen McGraw notched five saves.
PENN STATE HOSTS MONMOUTH ON SENIOR DAY
• In the last game of its four home-game series the Penn State field hockey team will host the Manmouth Hawks. • This will be the first meeting between the two teams in program history. • This year's senior day will recognize Jenny Purvis, Ali Meves and co-captain Daneen Zug.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
•The Hawks are the only Northeast Conference team represented in the Kookaburra / NFHCA National Poll. • Before their game vs. Temple, Sat. Oct. 2, Manmouth sat 7-1 on the year, the best start in program history. •For three consecutive weeks, Monmouth University field hockey freshman defender Alex Carroll was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week.
