UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; February 21, 2011 - In his first year of collegiate action Nittany Lion Jeremy Goldstein walked away from the 2011 Junior Olympics, in Dallas, Texas, with a third place finish. He was the solo representative for Penn State this weekend at the event which hosted nearly 1,500 fencers.
Competing in the men's foil against 200 others, the freshman made it to the third round and defeated Rodney Chen, 14-7 in his first bout. Pitted against Michael Dudey in the semi-finals he was defeated 15-8. The Westport, Connecticut native shares the third place finish with Robert Moore of San Jose, California.
Next up the Nittany Lions will head to Philadelphia, Feb. 27, to compete at Temple University. The one- day event will also host Duke and St. John's. Competition begins at 12pm.
