Men's Swimming & Diving Hosts Buffalo and Lehigh This Weekend

Feb. 3, 2011

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State men's swimming & diving team will host two meets this weekend when Buffalo and Lehigh come to town starting Friday. The Nittany Lions face the Bulls at 4 p.m. on Friday before squaring off with the Mountain Hawks on Saturday at Noon for Senior Day.

Penn State (4-6) will celebrate the careers of its senior class on Saturday vs. Lehigh. Co-captain John Austin (Kennett Square, Pa.) along with James Capparell (Bridgewater, N.J.), Josh Wakeley (Egg Harbor, N.J.) and Jack Zierenberg (Allison Park, Pa.) will compete for the final time at McCoy Natatorium this weekend and will be honored prior to the Lehigh dual.

The Nittany Lions are coming off a 1-2 weekend at Michigan last week, defeating Northwestern, but falling to U-M and Ohio State. Since the New Year, Penn State has gone 4-2 and looks to improve its winning ways over Buffalo (5-1), who has never defeated PSU in five meetings. Last season, Penn State dropped the Bulls 132-102 by taking every event.

For Saturday, PSU takes on Lehigh for the sixth time in the pool. Last year's dual was cancelled due to a blizzard that struck Pennsylvania. The two teams haven't met since a Dec. 9, 1978 meet where Penn State won 69-53.
