UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 25 ranked Penn State women's swimming & diving team will host Lehigh at the McCoy Natatorium on Saturday beginning at noon.
The Nittany Lions will be holding their annual Senior Day festivities during the meet as Penn State will celebrate the achievements of its senior class. Heather Brady, Diana Greco, Megan Marco, Lauren Smart, Alexandra Young, and Ilana Zeises will all be competing in their final meet in Happy Valley after piecing together outstanding careers over the last four years.
Together, the six seniors have helped the Nittany Lions secure an incredible 33-6-1 record since the beginning of the 2007-08 season. Penn State extends its sincerest gratitude to the seniors for their outstanding contributions both athletically and academically over the last four years.
Penn State enters the meet after topping No. 15 Michigan, 123-120, last weekend in Ann Arbor. With the victory, the Lions remained unbeaten in the New Year and improved to 7-2 overall.
Against the Wolverines, Amy Modglin captured the 200-freestyle and 200-backstroke, while Chelsea Weedman paced the field in the 200-IM and 200-butterfly. For her performance, Weedman was honored as the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week. Paige Whitmire also looked strong in the meet, helping lead the victorious 200-medley and 400-freestyle relay teams.
Lehigh enters the meet with a 4-4 record during the 2010-11 campaign. Penn State is 1-0 all-time against the Mountain Hawks after capturing the lone meet between the two programs in 1976. That year, the Lions hosted Lehigh on December 11 and came away with a convincing 93-37 victory.
After this Saturday's competition, Penn State will take next week off before traveling to Bloomington, Indiana for the Big Ten Championships. The conference meet will run from Wednesday, February 16 through Saturday, February 19.
