Seven Nittany Lions Set To Compete in NAC Tournament

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - This weekend over 2,000 fencers will travel to Austin, Texas to compete in the North American Cup Tournament. Seven Nittany Lions will join some of the countries most elite fencers for the chance to gain ranking points towards qualification for the 2012 Junior and Cadet World Championships in Moscow. The four-day event will begin tomorrow, Nov. 11, at 8:30 a.m.

Penn State will have five freshmen and two sophomores competing in the U20 (Junior) Division under the guidance of head coach Emmanuil Kaidanov. The Nittany Lions will be represented by David Gomez Tanamachi and Jeremy Goldstein in the men's foil, Jeffrey Miller in the men's epee and Sean Moran in the men's saber. The women will be represent in all three weapons, foil, epee and saber by Alina Antokhina, Oksana Samorodov and Nicole Glon, respectively.

Results for this weekend will be posted at the completion of the tournament, Nov. 14.
