Penn State Team Results

The fencing team held its Penn State Invite this past Sunday, and competed against Drew University (Men), Temple University (Women), Columbia University, UNC, Penn, and Haverford. Both the Penn State men and women's teams saw action today.

The Penn State men's team overall went 5-1 only falling to Columbia 12-15. Penn State beat Drew University 27-0, UNC 21-6, Duke 18-9, Penn 23-4, and Haverford 25-2.

The Penn State women's team overall went 5-1 as well for the day and only fell to Penn 13-14. Penn State beat Temple 18-9, UNC 20-7, Columbia 17-10, Duke 17-10, and Haverford 18-9

Stand-out individual results from the day are as followed:

Junior Max Kleeman (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished the day in the men's epee event undefeated 6-0 against Drew University, UNC, and Haverford. Sophomore Yasser Mahmoud (Quincy, Mass.) went 9-1 while Freshman Oskar Tang (Stockholm, Sweden) went 9-2.

In the men's foil event, senior David Willette (Lafayette, Calif), junior David Gomez-Tanamachi (Mexico City, Mexico), sophomore Paul Valigorsky (Dubois, Pa.), freshman Nicolas Graziano (Brooklyn, New York) all went undefeated in competition.

In the men's saber event, freshmen David Akrami (Plano, Texas) and David Filteau (Denver, Colo.) and junior Sean Moran (Beaverton, Ore.) went undefeated. Sophomore Kaito Streets (Redwood City, Calif.) only suffered a pair of losses going 6-2 on the day.

In the women's epee event, freshman Jessie Radanovich (Frisco, Calif.) had an outstanding day going undefeated going 15-0 for the day.

Sophomore Clarisse Luminet (Lyons, France) went 8-2 in the women's foil event. Freshman Desree Ortega-Furgeson went 5-2 for the day.

Penn State saw strong competition in the women's saber event from many fencers. Senior Nicole Glon (State College, Pa.) finished the day 8-2. Graduate student Heather Nelson (Albany, N.Y.) went 9-1. Freshman Teodara Kakhiani (Tbilsi, Georgia) completed the day 12-2.
