Results
Six Nittany Lions' performed with exceptional efforts at the USATF Championships at Sacramento State University's Hornet Stadium last weekend.
On the steps of the State Capital in Sacramento, junior Darrell Hill (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and alumni Joe Kovacs competed in the men's shot put. Kovacs took the national title with a throw of 72-3.5. Hill finished in 10th place with a throw of 64-1.25.
Rounding out the field events, Laura Loht (McClure, Pennsylvania) and Michael Shuey (Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania) competed for Penn State. Loht finished 12th in the women's javelin throw with a toss of 163-08 (49.89) while Shuey earned a Top 10 finish with a throw of 233-00 (71.01) in the men's javelin.
On the women's side, Mahagony Jones (Cleveland, Ohio) grabbed fifth-place in the 200-meter dash with a 22.64 (+3.8) finish. Jones earned a legal wind PR of 22.90 in the 200-meter dash semifinals.
Sophomore Kiah Seymour (Washington, D.C.) ran to a 57.25 finish in the 400-meter hurdles semifinals, finishing in 10th. Evonne Britton (El Paso, Texas) competed in the 100-meter hurdles in which she took 13th in the semifinals.
Alumni Nittany Lion Casimir Loxsom finished second in the 800-meter run final. Loxsom broke the tape at 1:45.97. Alumni and volunteer assistant Cara Foster took 10th place in the women's 10,000-meter run.
