UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Members of the Penn State fencing team will travel to Portland, Ore. this weekend, Oct. 10-13, to compete in 2014 Olympic Trials. The four-day event will bring in some of the nations top fencers and give Penn State the opportunity to compete against some of the best athletes in the country.
13 fencers are traveling to Portland; eight fencers are competing independently, while five are competing representing Penn State. Those competing independently include freshmen Najiyyah Clark (Maplewood, N.J.), Kasey Iverson (Baskin Ridge, N.J.), Jarrett Lewis (Montclair, N.J.) and Kahlil Thompson (Teaneck, N.J.) and sophomores David Akrami (Plano, Texas), Vincent Argenzio (Revere, Mass.), Howie Chan (Hong Kong), and Lars Swanson (Mendham, N.J.).
The five fencers competing who are representing Penn State include freshman Andrew Mackiewicz (Westwood, Mass.), sophomores Jessie Radanovich (Frisco, Calif.) and Adam Lewicki (Oakland, N.J.), juniors Nobuo Bravo (San Francisco, Calif.) and Kaito Streets (Redwood City, Calif.).
Results from this weekend's competition will be posted on gopsusports.com at the midpoint and the completion of the competition.
