UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" After a career-high performance in Penn State's Big Ten opener at Ohio State last weekend, sophomore goalie Will Schreiner (Kemblesville, Pa.) has earned Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors.
The award marks the third time this season Schreiner has been honored as the conference's Specialist of the Week. It also marks the sixth time this season a Nittany Lion has earned a weekly honor.
Schreiner led the team with a career-high 15 saves in the Nittany Lions' 6-5 win at Ohio State last weekend. He made six saves in the fourth quarter alone, marking a season-high tally in a single frame. He also allowed just five goals in the victory, which is also a season-low mark for Penn State this year.
Schreiner and the rest of the No. 14 Penn State men's lacrosse team (7-3, 1-0) are set to host No. 5 Maryland (7-2, 1-0) Sunday, April 10 in the 2016 Big Ten home opener. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Penn State Lacrosse Field. The matchup will broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
