Penn State Women's Tennis Team Kick Off Fall Season This Friday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; September 14, 2016 ââ'¬" The Penn State women's tennis team is set to open its fall season on Friday, September 16 at the Midland Invitational in Midland, Texas.

The tournament will run from Friday, September 16 till Sunday, September 18. The eight Nittany Lions heading to Texas are Katia Blik (Moscow, Russia), Devan McCluskey (Phoenix, Ariz.), Jacqueline Zuhse (Boca Raton, Florida), Dasha Sapogova (Belarus, Minsk), Taylor Shukow (Boca Raton, Florida), Bennett Dunn (Orlando, Fla.), Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) and Shannon Hanley (Kensington, Md.).

Cagle has announced his doubles pairs for the weekend. (Shukow, Sapogova), (Smith, Hanley), (Zuhse, Dunn) and (McCluskey, Blik).

"The Midland Tournament is always one that our team looks forward to. The competition is very high there and the atmosphere is one that our team enjoys," said head coach Chris Cagle. "We have been working hard the first three weeks of the season and Coach Fenwick and I are excited to see our team in our first competition format of the fall. We have some new faces this year as well and I am happy with how the team has come together during our pre-season portion of our training so now is time to go compete and see where we are at."

After the Midland Invitational concludes, the Nittany Lions will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the Penn Invitational, which runs from Friday, September 30 until Sunday, October 2.
