Penn State Fencing had an Epic Weekend at the Columbus North American Cup

Sophomore Karol Metryka sweeps through competition with a first-place win

UNIVERSITY PARK - Penn State fencing team competed at the North American Cup in Columbus, OH bringing home multiple wins including first place in men's saber.

On Friday, Jan. 6 senior Teodora Kakhiani (Tbilisi, Georgia ) competed in the division one women's saber coming in 30th.

On Saturday, Jan. 7 sophomore Karol Metryka ( Linden, N.J.) took home first place in juniors men's saber and freshman Matthew Mansoor ( Cambridge, MA) placed 27th.

On Sunday, Jan. 8 sophomore Anastasia Kalonji (Rennes, France) competed in division one women's epee coming in 24th and freshman Mohamed Hassan ( Saint Louis, MO) finishing 12th in division one men's foil.

Junior men's epee competed on Monday, Jan. 9 with sophomore Joshua Cole ( Chappaqua, N.Y.) coming in sixth place and freshman Matthew Mansoor ( Cambridge, MA) finishing in 25th. The Nittany Lions will be back in action this weekend Jan. 15 for the Penn State Dual Meets Invitational.
