BUFFALO, N.Y. - Five members of the Penn State women's hockey team received College Hockey America (CHA) regular season honors, as announced at the annual CHA Banquet at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Wednesday night.
Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minn.), Brooke Madsen (Eagan, Minn.), Katie McMillan (Minnetonka, Minn.), Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Bella Sutton (Shoreview, Minn.) garnered All-CHA honors. Along with the Nittany Lion quintet, the Nittany Lions received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Bowman, a senior forward, becomes the first Nittany Lion to receive All-CHA First Team honors. On the year, she leads the team in goals (18) and points (32). Her 14 assists in 2016-17 are tied for second-best on the team.
Nationally, Bowman is tied for 15th in goals (18), is tied for 78th in assists (14), is tied for 30th in points (18-14--32), is ninth in shots on goal (159) and is fifth in faceoff wins (397).
Throughout the course of the 2016-17 regular season, Bowman tallied a pair of hat tricks (10/7/16 & 12/4/16), became the first Nittany Lion to record 100 career points (1/28/17) and she set program records in goals (18) and points (32).
Petersen receives All-CHA Second Team honors for the second-straight season, while Sutton records her first All-CHA Second Team nod.
Petersen, a senior forward, has recorded career-bests in points (30) and goals (14) this season. Petersen also became the second Nittany Lion to tally 100 career points with an assist on Feb. 17.
Sutton, a junior defenseman, has netted 13 points on two goals and 11 assists during the 2016-17 campaign. On Feb. 18, Sutton became the 13th Nittany Lion to skate in 100 career games.
Madsen and McMillan make up the Nittany Lion duo on the All-CHA Rookie Team, as they were named to the forward and defense selections, respectively.
In her first year donning the Blue & White, Madsen has tallied 20 points on six goals and 14 assists. In the Penn State all-time freshman record books, Madsen is tied for sixth in goals (six), second in assists (14) and she ranks second in points (20).
McMillan, a defenseman, has recorded 11 points on four goals and seven assists during her rookie campaign. On the power play this season, McMillan has tallied three goals and five assists.
For the fourth-straight season, the Nittany Lions captured the CHA Team Sportsmanship Award, given to the team that is assessed the least amount penalty minutes during conference play. In CHA play during the regular season, the Nittany Lions recorded 154 penalty minutes.
