April 5, 2017 - UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; The Penn State men's tennis team is set to host three teams this weekend in two days of play. Friday, April 7 will feature a conference match against Purdue at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 9 will feature a double header against Big Ten opponent Indiana at 12:00 p.m. and Temple at 4:00 p.m.
Last weekend the Lions put up an impressive showing, defeating two Big Ten teams on their respective home courts. The blue and white battled past Nebraska to take down the Cornhuskers 5-2 on Friday, March 31. Sunday, April 2 displayed a close match between Penn State and Iowa, but the Nittany Lions came out on the winning end in a 4-3 result. These wins put Penn State men's tennis' overall record this spring at 12-8 and boost their conference record to 3-2.
Following this weekend's success, Penn State's No. 1 doubles team Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) and Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario, Canada) have made it into ITA Rankings for the first time this season. The duo is posted at No. 66 overall.
The Nittany Lion's next competition following this weekend's three matches will be Friday, April 14 and Sunday, April 16. These two days of play will be the final home matches for the blue and white this spring. On Friday, April 14 the Lions will face Big Ten foe Wisconsin at 4:00 p.m. On Sunday, April 16, Penn State will host it's sixth double header this spring -- starting with another conference battle against Minnesota at 12:00 p.m. and concluding with a match against Monmouth N.J. at 4:00 p.m.
