Rivers Shines in 800-meter season debut

- Penn State wrapped up the final day of the Clemson Invitational with several strong performances, including a new school record by sophomore Danae Rivers.

Victoria Tachinski brought home a sixth-place finish in the women's 600-meters (1:32.52) while on the men's side it was Isaiah Harris leading the way with a facility record performance crossing the line in 1:16.55 followed by teammates Domenic Perretta in second (1:19.32) and Jordan Makins (1:20.13) in third.

Moving up to the 800-meters, it was Danae Rivers who stole the show laying down a school record performance - breaking her own mark set last year 2:04.04 - running 2:03.13 that would be the NCAA leader entering the weekend. Rivers was bested by only Adidas' Natoya Goule who finished in 1:59.86 but eclipsed the field by a full eight seconds over the next closest competitor.

In the 4x400-meter relays, Penn State's women (Kiara Lester, Victoria Tichinaki, Rachael DeCecco, Danae Rivers) turned in a time of 3:44.46 to take sixth-place, while the men's squad of Dan Chisena, Kier Miner, Xavier Smith, Isaiah Harris) crossed the line in a season-best time of 3:08.17 finishing third.

Obeng Marfo turned in another top-eight finish in the field, this time in the women's weight throw finishing with a mark of 17.37m (57'-0"). On the men's side in the weight throw, Morgan Shigo also grabbed a top-eight finish with a best of 19.76m (64'-10") to take seventh-place.

The all-time No. 2 high jumper in program history, Megan McCloskey, wrapped up competition in her signature event with a best clearance of 1.75m (5'-8.75") for sixth-place, while Chisom Ifedi turned in the best performance on the men's side in the event with his clearance of 2.05m (6'-8.75") for eighth-place.

Bryce Williams, the current NCAA leader in the triple jump, continued his dominance in the event with a first-place finish with his mark of 15.85m (52'-0").
