Orlando, Fla.- The Penn State women's golf team climbed up one spot on the leaderboard to clench 11th place after two rounds at the UCF Challenge in Florida. Penn State shot a 295 (plus-seven) in the second round today for a two-round total of 598 (plus-22).
Miami sits in overall first place finishing the second round three-under 285 for a two-round score of 580 (plus-four). Tied for individual first is Miami's Dewi Weber and Host UCF's Kaeli Jones. The ladies completed round two six-under 66 and three-under 69 respectively.
Still leading the scoreboard for the Nittany Lions are junior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) and sophomore Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) both shooting three-over 75 in the second round for a two-round score of 149 (plus-five). Basso and Herr also led in birdies today with four a piece.
Junior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) finished the second round even to par (72). Rogowicz is tied for 35th with a two-round score of 150 (plus-6).
Fellow junior Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) shot just one-over 73 for a two-round score of 151 (plus-seven) placing her tied for 43rd.
Sophomore Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) and junior Kamerine Taylor (Dublin, Ohio) are both tied for 75th shooting 78 (plus-six) and 79 (plus-seven) respectively. Freshman Olivia Zambruno (Mt. Pleasant, Pa.) also shot a 79 (plus-seven) in the second round.
The Nittany Lions add to their 208-birdie count for the season with 18 birdies in the second round. There is still time to make a pledge to Birdies For The Heart by visiting HERE.
