STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team sits in first place at 12-under after rounds one and two of the 42nd Rutherford Intercollegiate on Saturday at the Penn State Blue Course.
"We played two solid rounds today," said Penn State head coach Greg Nye. "Cole's (Miller) second round certainly lifted our team as the second round closed out."
Senior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) was the low-man on the day with rounds of 1-under 70 and 6-under 65 which puts him in a tie for first place individually at 7-under-par for the tournament.
Both junior Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) and sophomore Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) shot opening rounds of 2-under 69, followed by even-par 71 and are tied for seventh place individually.
Junior JD Hughes (Carlisle, Pa.) is also under-par for the Nittany Lions with rounds of 1-over 72 and 2-under 69. Hughes' 1-under-par total has him in a tie for 11th place.
Tied with Miller at the top of the individual leaderboard is Oakland's Marc Norton with rounds of 4-under 67 and 3-under 68.
The third round is set for Sunday with the first tee times set for 8:00 a.m. Scoring will be available following the completion of the final round here.
"We will need to have the right approach tomorrow when the weather changes dramatically," Nye said.
