McHugh's Bronze Highlights Pro Series Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Penn State women's swimmer Ally McHugh earned a trio of top-10 finishes at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Columbus over the weekend to lead a contingent of Nittany Lions taking on elite competition over the summer.

Organized by USA Swimming, the Columbus event was the finale of a six-meet series schedule that featured many of the world's most decorated athletes. It is the fastest race series in the world.

McHugh capped the meet Sunday with her highest placing of the weekend, finishing third (8:32.21) in the 800-meter freestyle. On the men's side, Robbie Dickson placed 10th (8:21.97) in the 800m free for the men's team's leading finish of the weekend

Additionally, three earned Sunday evening swims, with Maddie Hart placing 21st (2:17.48) in the 200m fly, Carly Hart placing 23rd (1:13.05) in the 100m and Jacob Deckman reaching the D-final of the 200 fly (2:08.62).

Saturday, McHugh placed fourth in the women's 400m IM in 4:42.39 to lead five Nittany Lion finalists. Katrina Kuhn and Hayden Harlow both reach B-finals, as Kuhn took 14th in the women's 50m free (26.05) and Harlow took 13th in the men's 400m IM (4:28.17). Maddie Hart placed 18th in the women's 200m back (2:16.12) while Eben Krigger (200 free, 1:54.47) and Stephanie Szekely (200 back, 2:20.73) both reached D-finals.

Friday, McHugh won the B-final of the 400m freestyle in 4:15.34 to place ninth overall. Other Friday highlights included Harlow placing 12th (2:18.89) in the men's 200m breast, Krigger (16th, 4:04.89) and Dickson (19th, 4:02.90) earning evening swims in the men's 400m free, Maddie Hart placing 18th in the women's 100m fly (1:01.24) and Carly Hart reaching the D-final in the women's 200m breaststroke (2:37.76).

Camryn Barry and Szekely opened the meet Thursday in the 1500m freestyle placing 19th (17:17.41) and 21st (17:20.38), respectively.
