BOSTON, Mass. - Junior classmates Chase Berger and Kevin Kerr were honored last week by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) as Krampade Division I All-American Scholars in the second year of the award's existence released on Friday, July 27.
The AHCA recognizes student-athletes who achieved at least a 3.6 GPA during both the fall and spring semesters and played in at least 40 percent of team competitions during the 2017-18 season. Both Berger and Kerr were each one of just 12 Big Ten student-athletes to be recognized as an All-American Scholar and the duo was also honored by the Big Ten earlier in July as Distinguished Scholars.
The Nittany Lions as a whole have a 3.32 cumulative GPA and saw 14 student-athletes earn 2017-18 Academic All-Big Ten. Berger and Kerr have achieved a 3.95 and 3.86 GPA, respectively, through their first three years at Penn State and are both two-time Academic All-Big Ten and Distinguished Scholar Award recipients.
