Offensive Line
After losing three starters on the offensive line, Penn State has continued to rebuild its identity up front this spring. Will Fries, a junior from New Jersey, has been looked at as a building block for the big men up front. Following practice this week, Fries emphasized the growth and development from the offensive line.
"Our unit is really starting to come together," Will Fries stated. "We have some young guys stepping in, and I'm really excited about it. A lot of technique and finishing going on right now."
One of the biggest keys to success for this particular unit; Coach Matt Limegrover. Limegrover is beginning his fourth season as the offensive line coach for the Nittany Lions and has continued to develop top talent year after year. "We've learned a lot of new techniques from him this spring," Fries said. "He's a big plus for us and I think he's going to take us far this season."
DE Reload
When talking about NFL-caliber talent, it's hard not to mention former Penn State defensive end, Shareef Miller. With Miller declaring for the NFL Draft, the two-time All-Big Ten selection leaves a void on the defensive front for the Nittany Lions. An area of focus that has quickly taken shape for defensive coordinator Brent Pry and his Penn State defensive unit.
"Daniel Joseph and Shaka Toney," defensive tackle Antonio Shelton stated when asked about who could replace Shareef Miller. "They have stepped up at defensive end this spring."
Shareef Miller took note of his former teammates and quickly responded to social media comments of how Penn State will replace him (Miller) at defensive end with two simple words - "They will."
