AUSTIN, Texas - Junior Danae Rivers represented the Nittany Lions track & field program on Thursday in the women's 800m semifinal. The top eight times in the three heats advance to Saturday's 800m final.

Rivers competed in the second heat of the 800m event. Rivers ran a 1:00.31 through the first 400m and finished the race in a time of 2:04.56. This placed Rivers fourth in the heat and 13th in the 800m semifinals. Rivers 13th place finish gives her second team All-American honors in the 800m event.
Her appearance in the NCAA Outdoor Championships marked the third consecutive year that Rivers has represented Penn State at the championships. In 2017, Rivers ran in the 800m and in 2018 she competed in the 1500m race.
Rivers was the Big Ten Champion in both the 800m and 1500m earlier this spring and was the 800m indoor national champion. Her national championship in the 800m was the first individual women's national championship in Penn State history.
Julia Paternain will be the final Nittany Lion to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Paternain is scheduled to run the 5000m race at 8:25 PM eastern time on Saturday, June 8.
