Vanriele, Rhea Selected to Compete at NCAA Indoor Championships

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Following their Big Ten Championship winning performances, the NCAA has announced that Penn State freshman Victoria Vanriele and sophomore Sincere Rhea have qualified to compete at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas, will be held March 11-13 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  This is a closed event and fans will not be allowed in attendance.

Vanriele recorded a personal best time of 2:05.59 to claim Penn State's fifth consecutive victory in the women's 800m run at the conference championships. She became the first freshman to win the event since Danae Rivers in 2017. She will be the only freshman competing in the 800m run. 

The freshman is one of sixteen athletes to qualify in the 800m and one of just two representatives of the Big Ten.

The 800m semifinal is slated to be held on Friday March 12 at 8:55 p.m. ET.

Rhea became the first Penn State runner to claim the men's 60-meter hurdles title with his time of 7.80 on Saturday. He claimed the title by .01 seconds. 

The men's 60-meter hurdles semifinal is scheduled for Friday at 3:15 p.m. ET.
