UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State linebacker Ellis Brooks and defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo will participate in the 2022 East-West Shrine Bowl on Thursday, Feb. 3. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Brooks will suit up for the East defense, while Tangelo will dress for the West defense. The game will be televised on NFL Network.
Ellis Brooks Bio
- Played in 47 career games at Penn State, making 20 starts.
- Recorded 230 tackles (117 solo), 14 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception and two pass breakups.
- Became the 23rd different linebacker in Penn State history to reach the 100-tackle mark in a single season in 2001.
- With a 16-tackle effort against Michigan (11/13), became the first PSU player with 16-plus tackles in a game since Brandon Bell's 18 against Michigan State in 2016.
- Was named a 2021 second-team All-Big Ten honoree by the coaches and honorable mention by the media.
- Appeared in 12 games, making 11 starts in 2021 and finished eighth in the Big Ten and tied for 60th nationally with 100.

- Tallied three tackles with his first career fumble recovery against Auburn (9/18).
- Tallied three tackles with a sack and a forced fumble against Illinois (10/23).
- Recorded four tackles and a sack at Maryland (11/6).
