No. 48 Women's Tennis Defeats Minnesota

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 48 Penn State women's team defeated Minnesota, 4-0, in a Big Ten match up on Friday.
 
DOUBLES
 
The Nittany Lions struck first and took the doubles point. At No. 3, Ioana Gheorghita and Alina Lebedeva won their match by forfeit. 
 
Sofiya Chekhlystova and Carla Girbau defeated Zoey Weil and Anet Koskel, 6-2, clinching the doubles point for the Blue and White. 
 
Alexandra Nielsen and Yvonne Zuffova were down 5-3 versus Zeyneb Sarioglan and Aiva Schmitz when their game was stopped. 
 
SINGLES
 
Penn State took points from fifth and sixth singles due to Minnesota forfeiting them. Yvonne Zuffova clinched the match for the Nittany Lions by defeating Anet Koskel, 6-3, 6-3. 
 
No. 43 Sofiya Chekhlystova, Carla Girbau and Olivia Dorner all won the first sets of their matches before they were left unfinished.
