NEW YORK, N.Y.- No. 67 Penn State Men’s Tennis dropped its match at No. 8 Columbia, 7-0, on Sunday. The Nittany Lions put up a fight but ultimately fell.
DOUBLES
Sam Bossem and Loren Byers took the second spot, but dropped their match, 6-1, to Max Westphal and Sachin Palta. On Court 3, Reiya Hattori and Marcus Schoeman fell to Jayden Templeman and Hugo Hashimoto in a 6-2 matchup.
At first doubles, Charl Morgan and David Lindsay trailed No. 48 ranked Michael Zheng and Nicolas Kotzen, 5-2, when the match went unfinished as Columbia had already clinched the doubles point.
SINGLES
At the top spot, Byers dropped his match to No. 1 Zheng, 6-3, 6-2. On Court 2, Morgan fell to No. 36 Nicolas Kotzen in a 6-0, 6-1 match. Bossem took on No. 50 Hashimoto at third singles, but dropped his match, 6-1, 6-3.
At the fourth spot, Schoeman fell to No. 116 Westphal, 6-2, 6-3. Hattori put up a battle at fifth singles, sending the match into a third set, but ultimately dropped to Palta 3-6, 6-1, 10-4. Lindsay fell to Thanaphat Boosarawongse, 6-1, 6-2, at the sixth spot.
UP NEXT
The Nittany Lions will begin their Big Ten run on the road against No. 3 Ohio State on Saturday, Mar. 8 at noon. The match will be held at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio.
