Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week 10

Washington scores pair of touchdowns for Jaguars, Two Nittany Lions impress in Berlin; By Will Duerksen, student writer

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Week 10 in the National Football League saw 48 Penn State Football alums populate the rosters of 25 National Football League organizations. Among the standouts from this week included a wide receiver who turned in another multi-dimensional performance and two Nittany Lions (one on each team) who shined during the NFL’s inaugural game in Berlin.

Jacksonville wide receiver Parker Washington definitely delivered in the Jaguars’ loss to Houston. The former Nittany Lion caught three passes for 33 yards and a first-quarter touchdown on offense. He continued his strong performance in the second quarter with a 73-yard punt return for a touchdown, giving him multiple special teams touchdowns in a season for the first time in his career.

Staying on offense, Indianapolis tight end Tyler Warren continued an impressive rookie season in the Colts’ 31-25 overtime win over Atlanta. Warren set new season-highs in receptions (8) and yards (99) while making multiple vital plays, including a fourth-quarter catch to keep the Colts in the game and a 23-yard reception in overtime.

Atlanta also had a former Nittany Lion impress during its loss in Berlin. Linebacker Arnold Ebiketie finished with four tackles, including a season-high two tackles for loss. The game marked Ebiketie’s fifth straight with at three or more tackles, and he also contributed one of the Falcons’ seven sacks plus a quarterback hit.

Finally, San Francisco safety Ji’Ayir Brown was all over the stat sheet in his team’s 42-26 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Brown’s 10 tackles were a season-high and he also contributed a pass defended for the second-straight week. His 69 combined snaps were tied for the most among all 49ers players.
