Weather and Parking Information for Penn State’s Winter Sports Weekend

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s Winter Sports Weekend will run from Friday, Jan. 30 through Sunday, Feb. 1, which will include 13 athletics events and additional community activities on campus. Fans are encouraged to review weather and parking information in advance to ensure a safe and smooth visit.

Winter Weekend Fan Prep: This weekend’s forecast calls for cold but stable conditions at West Shoe Home Field at Beaver Stadium. Fans attending an outdoor event should keep the following in mind:

  • Drew in warm, layered and waterproof clothing.
  • Keep skin covered and wear a hat and gloves.
  • Consume warm fluids and calorie-rich food to keep your body warm.
  • Be aware of symptoms such as shivering, confusion or slurred speech and seek warmth if they appear.
  • Available warming locations at the outdoor hockey games will include the Bubble, the All-Sports Museum, Pegula Ice Arena and Medlar Field.
  • Warming spaces will be present in the stadium at Gate A, Gate E, between Gates B and C, between Gates A and E, the novelties stand at Gate B and a room off the North Tunnel. In addition, EMS will be located at Gate F.
  • Battery-heated gear, hand warmers and blankets will be permitted into the stadium.
  • Concessions stands will be open and serving warm beverages.

Penn State Transportation Services has released parking details for all Penn State Athletics Winter Sports Weekend events scheduled for Friday, Jan. 30 through Sunday, Feb. 1. Fans attending games throughout the weekend should review the information below to plan their visit.

FRIDAY, JAN. 30

All Day – Penn State Track and Field National Open Day 1(Multi-Sport Facility)

  • Parking Locations: Commuter lots (Stadium West, Jordan East, Porter North) and Eisenhower Deck are sold out for Friday’s day-long and evening events. Only those with a pre-purchased pass or valid university permit will be permitted in these lots. Pre-sale parking is now available in the East Deck.
  • Prepaid Rate: $5.60 via ParkWhiz
  • Day-of Rate: $10 via HONK

1 p.m. – Women’s Hockey vs. Robert Morris (West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium)

  • Parking Location: Commuter lots (Stadium West, Jordan East, Porter North)
  • Prepaid Rate: $5.60 via ParkWhiz
  • Day-of Rate: $10 via HONK
  • Note: Mobile parking passes for this event are valid until 5 p.m.

6 p.m. – Men’s Volleyball vs. Hawaii (Rec Hall)

  • Parking Locations: Nittany Deck and West Deck
  • Prepaid Rate: $5.60 via ParkWhiz
  • Day-of Rate: $10 at pay station

6 p.m. – Men’s Hockey vs. Michigan State (Pegula Ice Arena)

  • Prepaid Rate/Locations: $5.60 via ParkWhiz at the Commuter lots (Stadium West, Jordan East, Porter North) and Eisenhower Deck are sold out for Friday’s day-long and evening events. Only those with a pre-purchased pass or valid university permit will be permitted in these lots. Pre-sale parking is now available in the East Deck.

  1. A.M. – Men’s Tennis vs. St. Joseph’s (Indoor Tennis Center)
  • Prepaid Rate/Location: $5.60 via ParkWhiz at the Eisenhower Deck (listed on ParkWhiz Penn State website under "Campus Events")
  • Day-of Rate/Locations: $40 at the Eisenhower, East, and HUB decks, $30 in the Nittany Deck, and $20 in the West Deck.

1 p.m. – Men’s Hockey vs. Michigan State (West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium)

  • Parking near West Shore Home Field (between Bigler Road and Mount Nittany Medical Center) is managed by Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics. For more information, call 1-800-NITTANY or email golions@psu.edu.
  • Additional On-Campus Parking: $40 at the Eisenhower, East, and HUB decks, $30 at the Nittany Deck, and $20 at the West Deck.
  • Penn State faculty, staff, and student permits will be valid for this event only in evening/weekend lots west of Bigler Road that are not included in the list below.
  • The following campus parking lots will close at midnight Friday night in advance of Saturday's game:

 Parking Tips & Regulations

  • Event parking is virtual and enforced by license plate. The plate registered through ParkWhiz, HONK, or a valid Penn State permit must match the vehicle used.
  • ParkWhiz pre-paid passes must be purchased by midnight the night before the event.
  • Day-of parking can be purchased through HONK by scanning QR codes posted on light poles in Stadium West, Jordan East, and Porter North, or at deck pay stations.
  • All event parking requires head in parking only.
