Klosowicz Garners Softball America No. 9 Utility Ranking

Junior infielder/designated player adds to PSU’s list of individual accolades from Softball America

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball junior infielder/designated player Brooke Klosowicz added to PSU’s national recognition this week from Softball America, bringing in the organization’s No. 9 Utility/Designated Player ranking following a release from that organization Thursday morning.

Klosowicz, a native of Johnsburg, Illinois, continues to build on her individual star from last season as the 2026 campaign rolls on, with the third-year sensation compiling the second-best season in the batter’s box for PSU this year behind freshman third baseman Allison Oneacre. Klosowicz owns a .354 batting average on the year, coupling that with an impressive 1.170 OPS in addition to 17 runs scored and 17 RBI to her credit. Klosowicz owns 23 hits with 10 of those going for extra bases, logging a trio of doubles in addition to seven home runs. Klosowicz already owns the Penn State single-season batting average and RBI records and looks to improve upon that blistering pace in 2026.

The junior utility player has already racked up impressive individual statistical rankings within the Big Ten Conference this season, booking the ninth-most total home runs hit in the league with seven, in addition to the 11th-most homers per game in the B1G with a 0.35 mark in that category. Klosowicz boasts the 15th-most total bases by any Big Ten Conference student-athlete this season with 47 and boasts the 24th-highest slugging percentage in the conference with a .723 mark. Klosowicz returns to action this week following a strong individual showing at the Tennessee Invitational a week ago, crushing a pair of home runs with a double to finish the weekend with a three-day OPS of 1.181.

Klosowicz stands as the lone representative of the Big Ten Conference in this month’s utility/designated player rankings, with the full 15-member list featuring student-athletes from the Power Four Conferences. Georgia’s Sarah Gordon, Texas A&M’s Mya Perez, Alabama’s Alexis Pupillo, former B1G Freshman of the Year and current Stanford star Taryn Kern, and Duke’s Tyrina Jones comprise the top five of this month’s utility/DP list. Klosowicz’ honor comes as the third individual player ranking secured by a Nittany Lion this week, with junior right-handed pitcher Bridget Nemeth landing the No. 24 pitcher ranking on Monday, while freshman third baseman Allison Oneacre picked up the No. 1 ranking at third base on Tuesday.

With Klosowicz leading the way in the batter’s box, Penn State continues its season-opening travels this Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, as the Nittany Lions face off against a competitive field of challengers at the Hokie Invite from the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia. The Blue & White will battle the Radford Highlanders and Boston College Eagles on Friday before facing off in a twin bill against the James Madison Dukes and No. 11 Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday.
