UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; - The Penn State women's tennis team (8-11, 2-6 Big Ten) will welcome the No. 29 Indiana Hoosiers and the No. 33 Ohio State Buckeyes to Happy Valley this weekend to close out regular season action. Sunday's match against Ohio State will be a Code Blue match and all fans are encouraged to wear blue. A limited number of t-shirts will be available for students who attend the match.
"We are excited to have our last matches of the season at home," said head coach Dawna Prevette. "It's nice to have the home court advantage. Both of these matches should be very tough and I think our best tennis is ahead of us."
Penn State just ended a five-game losing streak with a 4-3 defeat of then No. 59 Michigan State. While the Nittany Lions failed to secure the doubles point, senior Katelyn BeVard (McLean, Va.) and junior partner Dorothy Dohanics (Pittsburgh, Pa.) earned a doubles win defeating Stephanie Kelder and Lindsey Lonergan, 8-4. The Nittany Lions secured the 4-3 victory with singles wins from senior Jenny Shular (Peachtree City, Ga.), junior Lauren Holzberg (Easton, Conn.), Dohanics and sophomore Lauren McCarthy (Danbury, Conn.).
The Hoosiers (18-5, 7-1 Big Ten) are coming off two back-to-back 4-3 wins over Illinois and Purdue. In the April 13 match against the Boilermakers, the Hoosiers earned the doubles point and three singles wins to secure their victory. The Hoosiers only loss in Big Ten action was to collegiate powerhouse and conference foe Northwestern.
