UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball gears up for the start of its 59th varsity season in 2024 with the program's first Community Day event since 2020. Fans are invited to Holuba Hall on Sunday to view the team's Blue-White scrimmage, meet and greet members of the Nittany Lion softball team and enter raffles with a chance to win exciting prizes. Doors open at 2 p.m. (ET), with the scrimmage set to begin at 2:30 p.m.

RSVP, PARKING & SEATING
Fans interested in attending Penn State's 2024 Softball Community Day are encouraged to click here to RSVP for the event. Admission to the event is free to the public. The entrance to Holuba Hall is located between the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center and Lasch Football Building, across the parking lot from the East Area Locker Room Building. Bleacher seating, available on a first-come, first-served basis, will be set up along the outfield markers. White stanchions and event personnel will be in place to ensure fans remain a safe distance from the field of play. Fans are also welcome to bring their own folding chairs and set up in the outfield seating area between bleachers should they choose to do so.
 
Parking for Penn State Softball Community Day is available to fans at the standard Penn State visitor rate of $1 per hour. Fans are encouraged to park in the Stadium West lot across Curtin Road from the Bryce Jordan Center. Pre-payment is available through the ParkMobile app, or by clicking here and entering zone number 95112 into the payment system. Fans are also welcome to pay on the day of the event at the pay stations located around the lot. 
 
ABOUT COMMUNITY DAY
Penn State Softball Community Day is Happy Valley's first chance to get to know the Nittany Lion softball team ahead of its 59th varsity campaign. The Blue & White will host an indoor Community Day event in the month of February for the first time since 2020. The public will be treated to free pizza, family fun and an up-close-and-personal preview of the 2024 Nittany Lion squad with a complete seven-inning Blue-White scrimmage. Fans can enter raffles to win exciting prizes, including a chance to throw the first pitch at a 2024 Nittany Lion softball game. Fans can also pick up their 2024 softball season poster and are invited stick around after the scrimmage for an autograph session with the Nittany Lion players and coaches.

ABOUT 2024 PENN STATE SOFTBALL
Fresh off back-to-back 30-win seasons under Crowell's direction, Penn State welcomes a variety of key transfers and impact freshmen to a stellar crew of returning student-athletes. The Nittany Lions feature returning All-Big Ten First Team selection and senior infielder Emily Maddock as well as returning PSU home run and RBI leader in graduate infielder Kaitlyn Morrison. Penn State welcomes a trio of transfer athletes headlined by a pair of Keystone Staters in junior outfielder Haylie Brunson and junior pitcher Mady Volpe, as well as a quintet of freshmen athletes led by Glendora, California, native pitcher Bridget Nemeth.
 
The 59th varsity season of Penn State softball gets underway this Friday, Feburary 9, as the Nittany Lions travel to Boca Raton, Florida for the Paradise Classic on the campus of Florida Atlantic University. PSU's season opener against Marshall is slated for a 4:30 p.m. (ET) start. Penn State returns to Happy Valley for its inaugural home competition of 2024 with the third-annual Penn State Softball Invitational from Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field on Friday, March 15. To view the 2024 Penn State softball schedule online in its entirety, click the link here.
