Softball Welcomes Fans to Holuba for Community Day Sunday

Fans encouraged to attend NGWSD Panel Discussion with PSU athletes at Multi-Sport before Sunday’s festivities

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball prepares for its 60th anniversary season and will provide fans with their first look at the 2025 Nittany Lions with the program’s Community Day festivities inside Holuba Hall on Sunday, February 1, with doors set to open to the public at 1:30 p.m. (ET). Fans are also encouraged to arrive early and visit the Multi-Sport Building at Noon (ET) to experience a National Girls and Women in Sports Day roundtable discussion with Penn State student-athletes and staff members from across the PSU campus.

PARKING & SEATING INFORMATION

Admission to the event is free to the public, and walk-up arrivals are welcome in addition to RSVP’d attendees. The entrance to Holuba Hall is located between the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center and Lasch Football Building, across the parking lot from the East Area Locker Room Building. Bleacher seating, available on a first-come, first-served basis, will be set up along the outfield markers. White stanchions and event personnel will be in place to ensure fans remain a safe distance from the field of play. Fans are also welcome to bring their own folding chairs and set up in the outfield seating area between bleachers should they choose to do so.

Parking for Penn State Softball Community Day is available to fans at the standard Penn State weekend visitor rate of $1 per hour. Fans are encouraged to park in the Stadium West lot across Curtin Road from the Bryce Jordan Center, with additional nearby lots including the Jordan East and Porter North lots. Pre-payment is available through the ParkMobile app, or by clicking here. Fans are also welcome to pay on the day of the event at the pay stations located around the lots.

ABOUT COMMUNITY DAY

Penn State Softball Community Day is Happy Valley’s first chance to get to know the Nittany Lion softball team ahead of its 60th anniversary campaign. The Blue & White will host an indoor Community Day event in the month of February for the second year in a row. The public will be treated to free pizza, family fun and an up-close-and-personal preview of the 2025 Nittany Lion squad with a one-hour timed Blue-White scrimmage. Fans can enter raffles to win exciting prizes and stick around after the one-hour scrimmage for the Penn State Softball Diamond Fest, featuring a variety of games and activities with opportunities to interact with the Nittany Lion student-athletes. Fans can also pick up their 2025 softball season poster and are invited stick around throughout the Penn State Softball Diamond Fest for a rotating group of Penn State student-athletes at the autograph station.

ABOUT 2025 PENN STATE SOFTBALL

Fresh off the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 13 seasons in addition to its third-straight 30-win campaign under head coach Clarisa Crowell’s direction, Penn State welcomes six newcomers and a star-studded list of returning student-athletes to Happy Valley. Penn State welcomes the return of a pair of All-Big Ten selections, highlighted by the program’s first individual Big Ten Conference award winner in program history in reigning 2024 B1G Freshman of the Year, sophomore pitcher Bridget Nemeth. Nemeth was additionally tabbed as a unanimous First Team All-B1G choice, a First Team All-Region selection by the NFCA and a B1G Freshman Team honoree. On the offensive end, PSU returns Second Team All-B1G honoree and returning home run, RBI and OPS leader in senior utility Maddie Gordon. Penn State added a trio of transfer athletes in Jordan George, Meagan Ricks and Kaylie Walters in addition to a trio of nationally-celebrated freshmen in Abigail Britton, Macy Chamberlin and Natalie Lieto.

Penn State softball’s 60th anniversary season opens in earnest this Friday, February 7, as the Nittany Lions travel to Clearwater, Florida, for the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic from the Eddie C. Moore Complex. PSU’s season opener against No. 7 Duke is slated for a 5 p.m. (ET) start, with additional contests against No. 13 Texas Tech, No. 24 Mississippi State, Notre Dame and Kennesaw State on the docket for opening weekend. Penn State returns to Happy Valley for its inaugural home competition of 2025 with the fourth-annual Penn State Softball Invitational from Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field on Friday, March 7.
