UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Week three of the National Football League season saw 49 Penn State football alums populate the rosters of 25 National Football League organizations.
Jacksonville wide receiver Parker Washington helped lead the way for the Jaguars in their 35-6 win over New England. Washington hauled in three catches for 40 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown. Cincinnati tight end Mike Gesicki made three grabs for 37 yards and a 25-yard touchdown in the Bengals’ 30-27 loss against Pittsburgh.
Two Nittany Lions faced off in the Ravens-Cowboys game in Brazil. Baltimore lineman Olaivavega Ioane started and played all 64 snaps at right guard in the Ravens’ 34-31 win. Cowboys lineman Drew Shelton played six snaps on special teams.
Former Penn State punters continue to have strong seasons. New York Giants punter Jordan Stout averaged 50.5 yards on six punts. He blasted punts of 54, 67 and 74 yards while landing four punts inside the 20 and two inside the 10 in the Giants’ 12-7 win over Tennessee. Stout ranks fourth in the NFL averaging 51.1 yards per punt and has the longest punt in the NFL this season (78 yards). Arizona punter Blake Gillikin punted four times, averaging 50.3 yards per punt, and had a long punt of 63 yards. He landed two punts inside the 20 and one inside the 10 in the Cardinals’ 36-30 setback against San Francisco.
